Sometimes, perhaps even more than we imagine or are willing to admit, the concept of meritocracy moves from the realm of utopian ideas, transforming itself into true and very pleasant realities. Specifically, I want to refer to the prestigious and well-deserved award – the bronze medal at the Global Music Awards 2020 – that Ingrid Carbone with her CD Franz Schubert – L’Enchantement Retrouvé -, Four Impromptus D. 899; Six Moments Musicaux D. 780 for the Da Vinci Classics label – recently achieved, the only Italian winner in the solo classical pianists section. The excellence of Cosenza, an internationally renowned pianist – known and loved by the Reggio public also thanks to the extraordinary conversation-concert held in Reggio Calabria as part of the Reggio Calabria 2019 summer program and which literally enchanted the large audience who attended – receives this important recognition for his second editorial work, dedicated precisely to the Viennese composer, and which follows a first work: “Les harmonies de l’esprit” in which he paid homage to the Lisztian repertoire.
The Global Music Awards, an award born in the USA and internationally recognized not only for its prestige but also for its autonomy with respect to merely commercial logic, in rewarding the Calabrian pianist not only demonstrates that it evaluates her talent and technical skills but also fully captures her extraordinary artistic sensitivity that makes Ingrid Carbone’s interpretation unique and highly valuable as it is capable of giving the listener that magical atmosphere that realigns the channels of auditory perception to those of the most intimate flow of emotions. Here the concert artist becomes a medium of the Austrian composer’s emotions and transmits them to the listener, enriching them with her personal interpretative key, in a sound journey that transcends limits of space and time to unite and become absolute empathetic communion. The romantic repertoire has a very elegant muse in Ingrid Carbone.
