In Prague, at the Baroque chapel of the Italian Cultural Institute, pianist, mathematician, and music and culture communicator Ingrid Carbone will be the protagonist of the event “Conversation-Concert between Mathematics and Music,” as part of the celebrations for International Mathematics Day. For the occasion, the artist will present a conversation-concert, a format she conceived and successfully presented in Europe, China, Latin America, and the Middle East, in which she will perform music by Domenico Scarlatti and Ruggero Leoncavallo in a tribute to Spain. The event will also be an opportunity to explore the profound dialogue between music and mathematics, two seemingly disjointed fields, with the aid of multimedia tools. Through her dual perspective as performer and scholar, Carbone will lead the audience in a reflection on the connection between mathematical logic, scientific approach, and musical interpretation. The conversation will be intertwined with the experience of listening, inviting participants to question how rigor, structure, and analytical thinking can meet artistic sensibility and the practice of musical performance, and engage in a surprising and fruitful dialogue.
