Notes and numbers around the world, Ingrid Carbone: «You can’t understand solfege without mathematics»: this is the title of the most recent interview to Ingrid Carbone by LaC News 24.
The pianist and teacher divides her time between the University of Calabria and important musical events in various nations. She created the “concert-conversations” to continue her path of dissemination in an engaging way and to talk about the relationship between piano notes and numbers. Ingrid Carbone, pianist and mathematician from Cosenza, uses a new, innovative, forward-looking format to talk about herself and her greatest passions, mathematics and music. Between piano and oration, with her “concert-conversations”, she reaches various parts of the planet to continue her singular path of dissemination. Recently, at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, one of the most prestigious mathematical research centers in Latin America, the teacher and artist brought to the center of attention «the astral conjunction between two worlds that are only apparently distant».
From next June 16th she will be busy in Jordan, invited by the Italian embassy in Amman, where she will hold three days of masterclasses at the conservatory and a final concert in the theater of the Al-Hussein Cultural Center.
Since she was a child, Ingrid Carbone has shown a strong passion for music and piano in particular. At 19 she obtained her final diploma at the Conservatory of Cosenza, her hometown, and began to collect numerous awards, including eight Global Music Awards and two nominations at the International Classical Music Awards. At the same time she noted a particular inclination towards scientific disciplines, obtaining a degree in mathematics at just 21 years old. At 27 she became a researcher at the University of Bari and currently teaches Mathematical Analysis at the University of Calabria.
