Below is a translated excerpt.

Ingrid Carbone will be the protagonist in Pescara on July 9th at 5:45 pm, at a conference-concert dedicated to the relationship between music, statistics, and interpretation. The event, titled “Music and Statistics: Interpretation between Data and Choices,” will be held at the Pescara Conservatory, Viale Leopoldo Muzii 5. The event is part of the Sixth Statistics Summer School for Teacher Training. The initiative, titled “Between Data and Graphs: Discovering Reality with Statistics at School,” is organized by MATHESIS Nazionale and ISTAT.
Admission is free, subject to availability.

For the occasion, Ingrid Carbone will present a lecture-concert featuring music by Domenico Scarlatti and Ruggero Leoncavallo. The program stems from the intersection of academic research in mathematical analysis and international concert activity. During the lecture, the musician will illustrate how musical performance requires continuous choices. Each performer, in fact, processes a wealth of information in real time. However, this complexity does not remain chaotic. On the contrary, the artist organizes and simplifies the data through processes of abstraction.
This is where the mathematical method comes into play. Mathematics, in fact, helps us understand structures, relationships, and expressive possibilities. The lecture will culminate in a conversation-concert. Furthermore, Ingrid Carbone will illustrate the cases presented on the piano, including a full performance of the analyzed pieces.
