Here’s an excerpt.
At Piano City Milano, Ingrid Carbone brings a concert-lesson that combines art, science, and social reflection. A journey through Schubert, Liszt, and Leoncavallo, exploring the feminine universe through music and transforming listening into awareness.
Today, May 16th, at 10:30 a.m., pianist and university professor Ingrid Carbone will present a piano lesson titled “The Feminine Universe Through the Notes of Schubert, Liszt, and Leoncavallo” at CASVA – Center for Advanced Studies on the Visual Arts in Milan.
The event, free to attend while seats last, is a true “concert-conversation,” a format conceived by Ingrid Carbone herself that combines musical performance, cultural dissemination, and social reflection in a single listening and learning experience.
The event will focus on the female universe through the works of Franz Schubert, Franz Liszt, and Ruggiero Leoncavallo, three composers with different styles and sensibilities, yet united by a profound focus on women. This artistic journey also provides an opportunity to raise public awareness of the sensitive and timely issue of violence against women, using music to generate awareness and emotion.
During the event, Ingrid Carbone will lead the audience on a journey through notes, words, and interpretative analysis, demonstrating how mathematical rigor can interact with the expressive freedom of music. This original approach has characterized her artistic and academic work for years.
During our meeting, the pianist also emphasized how important it is for her to make this work accessible to as many people as possible. Her goal, in fact, is to help audiences understand what can often be missed on a first, more superficial listen. Through the dissemination and narration of her works, Ingrid Carbone seeks to lead listeners into the composers’ musical imagination, allowing them to visualize emotions, images, and details hidden within the music.
